Wilhelm

Wilhelm is a real-time four-track step sequencer for Mac OS X. You can sync it to other applications (CoreMIDI) or external sources via MIDI beat clock. Data can be entered via MIDI keyboard controller and/or MIDI knob controller for analog-style sequencing. You can record and manipulate data during playback. Note data can be randomly generated, then filtered into modal scales. Each track can loop polyrhythmicly.

Wilhelm generates MIDI data only, not audio, so you'll need something to generate sounds for you. Either a MIDI sound module or soft synth of some sort.
Wilhelm is currently freeware, but unsupported. Unlike most everything I do, there is something resembling documentation included in the installer, so you have a fighting chance to figure out how to use it.
Requirements
MacOS X v10.2 or higher
MIDI sound source (either a CoreMIDI-savvy soft-synth) or MIDI sound module
MIDI interface and controller recommended
version 0.9 (11.03.03) download
changes: added MIDI beat clock support, pan, documentation, table, min/max operators, save/restore of sequences, velocity as a modulation destination and probably some other stuff I am forgetting.
